Privacy

Reading our articles does not require an account. We do not offer public user registration, comments or a newsletter signup. The current site does not use advertising trackers, analytics scripts, remote fonts or embedded social feeds.

Requests and operational logs

Our hosting and delivery services process requests to load the site and keep it working. Server logs can contain the connecting network address, requested page and search terms, time, response status, referring page and browser information. The connecting address may belong to an intermediary rather than the reader. Service error logs can also contain the requested URL, including its query. Do not put sensitive personal information into the site’s search box or URLs.

Application access logs rotate when their storage limit is reached; they do not currently have a fixed deletion date. Service error logs are also limited by storage, with additional weekly rotated copies generally kept for about five weeks. These operational records are used to run, secure and troubleshoot the site. They are not an audience advertising profile. Cloudflare provides the public request-delivery service; its handling of service data is described in its own privacy policy.

Cookies, links and contacting us

WordPress editors use cookies for authentication and preferences. Source links take you to other organisations, whose privacy policies apply when you visit them. If you email us, your email service and ours process the message. Include only the information needed for your request; avoid sending private information about children or other people.
